The West Auckland Historical Society are seeking general committee members for the 2026 year.
We also invite expressions of interest in two specific volunteer positions on our committee. Both opportunities would be ideal for someone based locally, this is particularly important for the first role.
WAHS Henderson's Mill Cottage Manager
This role is currently managed by our co-Chair, Wayne Black.
He needs to cut back on his many commitments, but is available to mentor someone into the role.
The cottage is currently in good shape due to Wayne's input, it has recently been water blasted and maintenance is under control. This would suit a retired person who lives in close vicinity to Sel Peacock Drive, Henderson.

Job Description
Committee meeting, 2 hours, late afternoon, once a month
Manage maintenance issues
Liaise with Auckland Council
Liaise with security provider
Open up cottage for occasional rentals
Liaise with contractors and open/lock up as required
Manage the Cottage carpark
WAHS Treasurer
This role is currently undertaken by our previous president, Gai Bishop
We ideally want someone who has a working knowledge of Xero to prepare the monthly accounts.

Job Description:
Committee meeting, 2 hours, late afternoon, once a month
General meeting, 2 hours, Wed evening, once a month
3-4 hours monthly for transactional accounting
Additional hours for Initial training
Experience with online accounting - Xero or MYOB
Duties include financial processing, input, reconciliations and reporting using XERO, small cash banking, managing queries from creditors, debtors and relationships with the committee, members and the public.
We are seeking someone with skills and experience in the above duties along with liaison and strong team relationship building with the committee.
The ability to recognise opportunities and issues in developing financial management improvements as may arise.
